Capturing intersections of time & place

Capturing intersections of time & place

My images often act as time travellers encapsulating past and present.

Documenting culture and travel within urban and rural settings, while exploring themes of time and place is a true passion.

I also like to practice the art of mindfulness - a gentle study of immediate circumstances and surrounds which I happen to stumble across.

About Kay

For around 30 years I was a professional singer/songwriter, however, photography was never far from my side.

I began studying photography at high school eventually majoring in it for Year 12. Later I furthered my studies with courses in Analogue Black & White Dark Room Techniques at the CAE in Melbourne, and online through Digital Mastery Techniques taught by renowned international photographer, Canadian, Mark Hemmings.

My work has been published online with the Swiss-based international magazine, Frames, which I have also produced several presentations and a podcast for them.

I finished Top 10 in 2023 and Top 6 in 2024 for Australian Photography Magazine’s Photographer of the Year (Travel and Portrait respectively) and have been published several times in their comps.

I’ve been a guest presenter and competition judge for Melbourne Camera Club, and a judge for Corio Bay and Bellarine camera clubs. I am a member of the Geelong F Stoppers.

In the past I have partaken in commercial photography work including weddings, portraiture, architecture, food, hospitality, events, and music, however, I call myself a fine-art travel & documentary photographer first and foremost.

I use a Nikon D850 and two simple lenses: a Nikkor 50mm pancake lens and a Nikkor 70-300mm zoom. I edit using Adobe Lightroom. That pretty much sums up all the bells and whistles I utilise.
